01 raptor will not shift into 2nd when cold
#1
the other day me and my 4 buddies are practicing our dead engine starts (that's how us cross country boys do it) and i'm smokin a z400 and 3ex's the first 2 starts. on the third i missed 2nd. and thought it was driver error. lined up again . bam missed 2nd again. so i let way of to get it in the next time and i get spanked. so we get done and so yesterday i go to ride my rappy and i take off nice and easy and the thing is stuck in 1st. then it goes into neutral and gets stuck there. finally it goes back into 1st and then it's okay for normal use, but when i holeshot it now i miss 2nd about 1/2 the time and not getting any better. i adjusted my linkage (what a peice of junk the stock shifter is) still no good. i adjusted my clutch nope. same thing. under power or riding a wheelie and shift i miss 2nd. does it sound like a bent fork ? or am i about to experience the finer quality of a 01 raptor . the gernading tranny !!!! oh by the way i was suppost to race sunday but i think i'll see what's wrong before it gets worse. any ideas would be great. thanks

Sound like you need to replace 2nd gear for sure
Of my bike 2nd gear start to go go like chain slipping and went out bought Fortin gears of 2nd and 3rd, also shifting fork. cost me a little over a grand.
Keep in mind you can replace the 01 gears and convert over 02 gears for less price.
You can race the bike this weekend for sure but no sec gear for sure..... Hope you can use the bike without 2nd gear on the race course.

My quad was cover under the extended warranty when I bought the bike. The labor didn't cost me a penny. The parts I had to buy... The shop did the my tranny work. It was worth it to have the extended warranty from the shop.....
