Mods for my new polaris 500 HO
#1
Its been along time sense I have left a message on here so here it goes. I have a 2002 Polaris 500 HO 4x4. I want to put larger tires on it with out replacing the stock wheels. I like to play in the mud abit and sand and do alot of trail riding in the mountains. Now I also want to get a exhaust kit and air filter kit. I took the air box the other day and the bike hardly had any power. So i was wondering if the K&N will work on this new bike. Or will it with a jet kit. So if anyone can help me I would like it ,
Thank you
Thank you

Don't expect to get any more power out of the H.O. I tried real hard and gave up. I put an AAEN cam in, exhaust, tried some airbox mods, jets, nada. Do yourself a favor, put a K&N in it, not for the power but to protect your engine, swap out your tires, ride it and enjoy.

If you want to go places where even the bigger tires fale. Try good year mudrunners. You can read about them at atv news .com under mud bath. They test just about all the tires out their and the "stock tire size" even beat out the 26,27,and 28s. If you want more power, pick up a heelclicker clutch kit. It will out perform any kit on the market today. That may be why Polaris racing team only uses heelcicker in all their racing machines.

Thank you guys. If anyone else as amymore options for me let me know. Now where do I find this stuff and what does it cost. I like the idea about the clutch and the big bore kit but the Bike is still under warranty for the next 4 years .

don't mess with the exhaust, your just wasting money.
a K&N will add a smidge better throttle response, and a jet kit will give it a very small gain.
playing with the clutches is gonna give ya the most porformance increase.
some new springs and weights (matched to your riding style) along with a dual rate helix will give a very noticeable performnace increase.
and as far as tires and rims go....be very discerning about the tires weight. heavy tires and/or rims will noticably affect performance.

If you want a clutch kit that wont effect your warranty get one from EPI-(Erlandson Perfomance Inc.) And putting on a belt from a 700 wouldnt hurt either.

I was kind of hoping epi would take the invite to what heelclicker has to say on their web site.About having a rodio on all theses so called clutch kits. To see who would get knocked off their horse in performance. But may be thats why Polaris only uses heelclicker.
