OVERHEATING
#1
My bike ssems to run hot after about a fifteen minute MX practice session, when I pull off the track I check the head temp with an infra-red temp gun and its about 240 degrees. Its usually the same after every practice, it also loses coolant past the reservoir cap due to the pressure. (Its almost empty after about 5 practice sessions) I am currently running a 14/42 gearing with MX holeshots and the mods below (I have also run 14/38,39,40 with the same problems) The bike is new and has only been ridden at the track 5 times since break in. Has anyone else had similar problems and what did you do to repair it.

I never had a overheating problem some of the motorcycles do have a overheating problem but they dont have a fan.Is your fan turning on?Mine runs alot it will even come on quite frequently after the quad is shut off I have never lost one drop of coolant.I wouldnt run your quad until a solution is found.

If you have the resevoir with the small line going to water pump you shouldnt have to bleed it.It wouldnt hurt to crack open the screw on the bottom of the main hose fitting.
If your fan is running I would suspect the waterpump impellar is bad.If fan isnt running check the faults in ECM.Could be bad sensor,Fan or wiring.

Mine overheated and blew all the coolant out at the last GNCC over the weekend. I think alot of it had to do with the heat (90+), super dusty track, racing at slow speeds for almost 2 hours. I'm going to drain all the fliud out and flush the system and then refill with 50/50 water/ anti-freeze. I'm also going to add a little bit of Redline WaterWetter and see if that helps. It's suppose to keep the temps down by 15 to 30%. I'll let everyone know if it helps. By the way the fan was on the whole race.

the fan does run alot, I also swapped out the coolant for a Redline water wetter mixture and it did seem to get better. I also live in Arizona where it is always in the 90 degree temp range.Seems like most 4 strokes run under 200 degrees (i.e. friends YZ426 quad)Has anyone taken a temp measurement after a hard moto?

I have over heated my cannibal, a few weeks ago I ran hard for several hours and then headed up a mountain and my quad stalled at about 11,000 ft. I think I was getting vapor lock on my gas tube and then gas couldnt get to the fuel pump. The fuel in the fuel pump also cools the fuel pump, and mine got too hot and quit running and I had to sit there for a while till it all cooled down, then it worked fine, but it really ticked me off. Also cannondale has a update for the coolant issue you speak of, check the web site, and yes I have the re-routed fuel line on my dale.

I already put a hose clamp on the over flow line to the bottle. Mine actually got too hot and released the cap seal and blew anti-freeze all over the place. The quad was off when it happen and I hit the button to kick the fan on to cool it down, then went and go water and refilled it up and started the engine and let it run for about a min to see if it was full, then proceed to finish the race.

My Cannibal just started to leak antifreeze from somewhere. Not sure exactly where it is coming from but my guess is the cap is letting some out when it gets hot. This never happened before I installed the moto map. My fan also comes on after only about a 10 minute ride. Does anyone know what is causing this? Maybe it's just running too hot?
