My 300 is very hard to start when cold and it will not idle until completely warmed up and ridden for a while. the valves haven't been adjusted in many many hours and I am pretty sure thats the problem. I have the service manual and had it all ripped apart and my question is: At TDC the rocker arm is still tight, I tried a couple diff. times and each time it was the same, This would cause the hard starting right? You also only have to take off the one valve cover and adjust that side, or am I reading the manual wrong. Any help would be appreciated as I would like to do this job tommorrow as I have the day off. Thanks again.

If you are on the right stroke you should be able to move any/all rockers . Your either gonna be on tdc exhaust or tdc compression. You want to be on the tdc compression side if it all. Where ever you can move the most rockers I would assume that it is on tdc comp. I have seen some valves way out of adj. on bigger engines but not all valves. Valves can be WTF out before they cause serious problems. If you do adj. them on the wrong stroke you will know right away but you will not cause any damage. Go for it.
