At Little Sahara this weekend there was a ton,
i mean a ton of 400ex, raptors, warriors....
And well (I don't know how else to explain this)
No offense to anyone.....
The quads... well sound like they are doing
pretty loud pooting...Just a really loud obnoxious
sound. I relize that this is a 4stoke sound.
Most of these had pipes on them.
My question would be will the predator sound the same?

If it does I really may have to rethink about getting one.
I really like the 2stroke sound and even Bubba's quad
isn't as loud as a 4stroke.

I was just curious as to what everyone thinks?

Thanks
Dana

Your best bet would be to leave the stock silencer on it. It will definately sound like those at LS. Halfway between the sound of a 400ex & a Raptor. I went ahead and ordered the WB Polaris silencer and I'm sure it will sound just like you're describing.

it will sound sweet, not too loud but good,400 ex make more noise than just performing, big bore run smooother, but a scrammy 400 full modded sound pretty loud too, depending on the silencer you're running.

With the stock silencer, the Pred is pretty standard 4 stroke mellow. With the WB (dealer available slip-on) it thunders loud just like all the others. Goofing around with the sound meter, I've had 110-120db readings from different aftermarket silencers on 4 strokes. People gotta be careful, that lower db range really resonates a long distance (don't get me wrong, I love the thunder) and that means effecting more neighboring residents where you ride.

110-120 db!!!,my neighbors will be pissed off for sure, mine is at what maybe 100-102 and it sound hell, whenever you got 4 stroke sounds stronger in noise terms,2 more valve so more engine sounding, still 2 stroke sound better,my toughts.

I haven't taken a direct reading off a Pred, but I would imagine it would be up there. Those high readings are even with spark arrestor equipped units.

The reason why I ask the question is because at Little Sahara
this weekend you could here those quads from miles away(well
okay maybe not miles but pretty far)
I do like the sound of a 2 stroke and on my scrambler
I have a hpd trailpipe with a hot seat silencer.
Mine wasn't even close to being as loud as a stock one.
Now ofcourse if I get a predator I will have to do mods
(ok ok bubba will) Which would make it louder

I've seen and heard the Predator in person and it is no louder than a Raptor in stock form. They claim the stock horsepower is so strong that it would not need an aftermarket (loud) pipe to be competitive with the other thumpers out there. As long as you leave the stock pipe alone, you should be satisfied with the sound level.
