There are some companies that sell an aluminum airbox that holds the battery. I don't think that they make one with a lid......yet.

I agree with what quadfather says.

steve7467, why do you need to access the battery so much? It is hard to get to, but why do you need to get to it in the first place so often? Just curious.

i don't need to get to the battery. i need it out of my way. it is rediculously hard to get the back plastic on.

I know about the aluminum air boxes. my local dealer had a "cheap" on for only $150.00

I don't like the idea of putting the battery inside the air box. Batteries give off explosive hydrogen gas. Now when an engine backfires through the carb flames shoot out into the air box. Now what do you suppose would happen if you had a flame that shot through the carb into the air box and ignited the hydrogen gas inside the air box from the battery?

the boxes that i have seen are chambered so the bat is not actualy in the air cavity there is a wall.
It is a good idea it centers some more weight and it keeps the electrical stuff cleaner.
I used to use remote conection on my drag car you could do the same w/ this so that if you needed to jump it just hook up.
