aftermarket steering post for scrambler
#1
does anyone know of an aftermarket steering post for a scrambler. i think i recall someone on here listing a chromoly steering post.
unfortunately and fortunately, as i will explain, i had my first wreck on my new, 4 month old scrambler, trying to climb one nasty hill! it went up then a lip that gave you alittle air, then went up alot more. well the lip slowed me down alot, then when i couldn't make the rest of the hill, i tried to burm it but it was too steep and i was alittle sideways, and it came over on me. rolled twice, (what a horrifying 3 seconds!) and started to head downhill and got snagged on a birch right by the headlamp grill. i've had wrecks before, but thats just something you don't want to see on a brand new quad. especially on the hills we climb around here. when you roll it, the quad usually ends up being picked up with a truck. that is unless you get extremely lucky like i did. i ran to the quad... absolutley nothing wrong with it. a bit of scratches on the fender, but nothing that a few months more wouldn't show anyhow. i did however, which brings me to the subject of the topic, notice that the handlebars felt twisted alittle. its not the handlebars themselves, and the steering column looks straight. well, i tried to twist the bars alittle and noticed how cheesy the post felt, it just felt weak. i know i didn't crack anything, maybe bent it so slightly that you can't see, but...?? i had to tell the story, i haven't posted anything on here in a long time.
my question is, is there an aftermarket post? does it help? rough cost? i know my tie rod ends are loosen up already too. thats the thing that really sucks is that you pay so much for a quad, then you have to put so much more into it to make it a "machine". right now i am thinking a nice chromoly post with some new tierod ends, a pair of aluminum bars. the problem is i had my heart set on an rcr kit real soon. well the feel of the bars might just be in my head because i am thinking something must have happened when it rolled. i wish i had alot of money to p away on toys!
any suggestions on the post?

Well as for the steering post it is a scrambler trait it is the weak rivits they use they loosen up after a little bit of driving just drill them out and put bolts with lock nuts on them......
but if you want the new steering post HotSeat has one a steering damper would be a good investment also
Sorry about your Crash Good luck
