Just bought a 2001 DS650. Currently it is bone stock.

What should be the first mods to accomplish? I would like to stick with the best bang for the least buck type mods. Nothing can ever be bone stock

Thanks

Ya but that puts a nice dent in your wallet!!!

If you have that kind of money thats what i would have done.

But if you dont i would get a pipe, K&N filer, dyno jet kit and run with out the air box lid (if you dont go in water).

Also some holeshots, would make it feel like you added 20 more hp compaired to having the stock ds tires...

Since you have an '01, consider a set of TimmyBoy upper A-arms. They fix the handling. Front shocks vary from one quad to the next. If you have the stiff front shocks, get rid of 'em and get a pair of Works triple rates. I still have the stockers on my Baja, and am fine with them. I suppose I could switch them from my DS, which I will sell eventually, but I am in no hurry. The front shocks that came on my '01 were built for a Mack truck. I will definetly keep the Baja A-arms on the Baja. All that crap about the wheels being the only difference is a load. I have my '01 Douglas wheels with my XCT's on my Baja, which should undo all the handling improvements..It doesn't.
.....Take off the airbox lid, put a 2&1/2" pipe in your endcap, raise your needle, and put a little bigger main jet in. And get the Pami CDI.

This is how the past year and a half went on buyin crap.

1) Nerf bars
2) Dura Blue Axle (bent stock one)
3) Holeshots (rear)
4) Tach (got it from my dad so it was free)
5) Alba pipe (includes K&N & outwear filter)
6) Dyno Jet Kit
7) bernett clutch springs
8) 15 tooth front sproket

I really want to get a RWR CDI box (maybe for X-mas.. I wish!)

Seriously, the best bang for the $ is a Pami 703 kit.

Unfortunatly it doesn't look like you or anyone will be able to get one for quite awhile.

I know some are going to bash me about this post but that's what I feel is the best value, if you have the money.

Not much money? A CDI, K&N and slip on exhaust will do wonders for your bottom end.
