i live in clinton ct, i ride a lot of power line trails and dirt roads i need to figure out which quad i wanna get. i was thinkin the banshee and just gearing it down, but i wanna know what u guys think. please give me some info, i also want to make it street legal casue i can here. i can't spend more than 6k and i want a new quad.

 

I ride a Shee, but for the type of riding your going to do, the Z400 is a great quad. The Shee will rip your arms off with the right mods, but its not set up that great for trails like the 4stroke Z400.

 

I bought a new kfx400 in april and I love the heck out of it. The thing in stock form is an awesome machine. Add some aftermarket parts and it is an animal. In stock form I have beat 400ex, scrambler 500, and stock banshee in a drag race. I love it to death, but I can never own anything for a long amount of time. I was actually considering buying like an '02 banshee and piping and putting a K&n on it. I mainly rip around a lot and I love my kfx400, but I think I want a change of pace. What do you think of the banshee

 

go for the z, much more durable quad, and would fit you perfectly for what you plan to use it for.

 

sounds like u do alot of the same riding i do, i ride a 400EX, and i also have a raptor that i just bought, if you want something to keep for a while, and you dont have to worry about maintenance, the 400EX is the way to go. It lacks some power but they aren't SLOW. A pipe, jets, and an airfilter, can easily put them up to par with the Z400. I also like the raptor, i'd say it would fit you better, because of the power for the dirt roads, and its reverse, I'd say yoiu could find one of the leftovers from the year b4 for about 6K, i just got mine so I don't know much about reliability for it. Then you have the Z400, they are pretty fast, but the stockers I have ridden, don't have the torque of the raptor or 400EX, YES I said 400EX. If you get slowed down on a hill, you can gas the EX or the raptor and they will pick right back up, but if it happens on the Z400 your up the creek without a paddle. A smaller front gear would probably help the Z. I also think you will like the EX because it is so easy to ride, it will make u a better rider in the long run, their is no better handling quad for the trails, except maybe the YFZ/TRX. Banshee has a crappy ride through the hills, suspension just sucks, alot of power though, but then again, you don't have the reliabilty of a 4-stroke.

Buy what you want, all that matters is you like it, just thought I'd help you out a little....
