Default 400ex Aftermarket goodies

Hey all, I just picked me up a 01 400ex today and it is bone stock except for a K&N with outerwear. Not sure about the jets yet. But I think they are stock as well. Any way, What are some of the good online places to order and see what is out there for mods on this bad boy. TIA.

LOL......could be. Im still on the DS. But Chris (my boy), and either one of your boys would like some extra HP out of this baby im sure. I was just trying to get in on the 400ex information loop. I usually looked for and still do, bomb stuff. But now i'll be keeping an eye out for some 400ex goodies as well. I found some interesting stuff at Rockymountain. I'll keep digging. Im sure there are plenty of others as well. Im sure while at Dumont this weekend I'll see plenty of ex's to pick the riders brains for aftermarket goodie ideas. Thanks redrider I will do that right now.
Hey all, I noticed that I can get a 440 kit for as low as 339. That sounds way to cheep. Expecially considering trinity wants a grand or so when they do the kit. Is the labor really 700? If you have the sleeve and have a shop R&R the sleve for you, how much would I expect to pay for that? The rest I can do my self. TIA

I personally like to order from atvaddiction. They've always been good to me. For buying skids, bumpers, and other aluminum goodies, I go with PRM. And it is cheaper to order from them directly for most parts.

Best thing you could do for cheap, is put in a 42 pilot jet (cures starting problems), and throw on a 14 tooth front sprocket (lose some top end, but if you ride dunes, it's a must). I'm going to experiment with my carb this Winter. I guess if you remove the choke, and do a little Dremel work on the carb (grind out the fins where the choke was connected), you can gain 1.5 to 2 horsepower throughout the entire powerband. It's a fairly popular mod, and a heck of a lot cheaper than an aftermarket carb. There are some good threads that walk you right thru it on exriders.com. As far as a pipe goes, pick the one that looks best to you, because they all add about the same power, with a slight edge to Curtis Sparks, White Bros, and Yoshi. It seems that the White Bros pipe is the most popular (since it's fairly cheap). Look on ebay...atvaddiction sells new pipes on there for cheap.

cheap 440 kits usually give you cheap performance like the ims 440 kit , other people on the forum said it was pathetic and the felt the same power with just a slip on pipe, and K&N

Yo bro. You can have my Hotcam I just got for my Raptor since I don't need it for awhile as my tranny gave way. . Oh, thats right it won't fit in the 400ex. . j/k. Hotcams does make a cam for the 400ex at $139.00.

Thanks all for the tips and parts store info. Looks like it's going to be the pipe, 14t front sprocket, main Jet and pilot for now. Has anyone tried out the new WB pipe yet. 600 bucks seems kinda steep. But they say a minimum of 6hp gain with it.
Also does going to a FCR carb help a lot along with going to a larger size? Or do you need to go to a larger bore first?
