i'm not really sure haven't had much experience with honda utilty's but there probably reliable
when i rode an older big bear i did not like it that much but i'm sure they've improved them the new kodiak 450s are spose to be pretty good
id get the eiger its new and all the new suzuki utilitys, eiger, vinson, are spose to be pretty good and even a bit sporty
jmo but talk to more people who have ridin the three machines

All three are good bikes and all have a good track record for reliability. In buying mine, I did not consider the Big Bear, looked closely at the Rancher and got the Eiger.
When the magazines have test these against each other the results are always the same: #1 = Eiger, #2 = Rancher, #3 Big Bear

I have ridden and test drove all three machines. The Rancher was the smoothest riding, and had good torque, but personally I like to be able to switch in and out of 4x4--instead of all time four-wheel-drive. For some reason the Big Bear was pretty jerky in 4x4, but the power is about the same as the rancher. An advantage over the rancher would be the Big Bear's ground clearance. And the Eiger had the most power from what I noticed, plus the 4-wheel-drive was very smooth (not quite as smooth as the rancher). The Eiger is supposed to tow the most out of the three. I purchased the 5-speed Eiger because I go through some nasty trail rides, and a manual with low and high gears is very handy when riding down extremely steep runs, and I use the low gears for towing a lot around the house. But don't count out the rancer because if I were to buy a second ATV, that would be it. All three machines are reliable and mechanically sound, pick the one that fits you.

I am thinking of getting a rancher es or an eiger manual. All my friends have honda ranchers or rubicons so I know I wont have any trouble with the rancher. I used to own an old suzuki and had very little trouble with it, and now they are supposed to be as good or better than the hondas. They offer more but I know I definately will have no trouble at all with the Honda. The rancher is the best selling atv in this category and will probably surpass the 300 as the best selling atv. Its hard to argue with that.
