Hi guys, I'm sorry to post, yet, anotehr tread on those damn jets, but I am experiencing a kind of weird problem. I installed the jets this summmer, allong a snorkal and Uni filter, it ran fine. I run it with a 134 in the front and a 138 in the rear, 2 and 3/4 turn on the rer air screw, and 2 1/2 turn in the front. In the summer it ran great exept some times i would stop while runig iddle. Now it is the winter and when the engine is cold, it runs iddle, it runs high RPM but when it gets from low to higher RPM it kind of wants to stop, and if coughs, really not a nice fealling on the machine, its almost like if it was 'pinging' , I feal it jerking in the engine, and I am afrad to brek the engine, could it be a jet or a needle prblem (needle in 4th notch) I am at 1100-1500ft altitude, summer 30'C winter -20'C
Thanks for your help guys this forum really is a great thing.

It's lean now that the cold weather is here. Open up the pilot screws to 3 1/4 to 3 1/2 turns out. That will help some. It will still be a little rough until it gets really warmed up. I didn't have much luck with the Dyno-Jet kit and ended up taking it out and went with oversized Keihin main jets.

Novkaw650,
What size jets did your 650 come with and what size did you jet up to? I have Dynojet kit in and cannot get rid to initial hesitation when I punch it. Do you think I can solve this with upsized Kawi jets?

I took the 142 from the back cylinder and put it in the front, I put a new 145 in the back. I may still be a little lean; a project for another day. I don't think there is anything wrong with the DJ main jets, but I question the taper and design of the needles. I'm back to running the stock needles. I've got no hesitation now.

Haynes, I had to put 5 of the uni-vent's in my air box lid to get rid of the hesitation it does fine now, you are still a tad bit rich somewhere, as i was and instead of going back into the carb's it was alot easier for me to put 2 of the uni-vent's in at a time until the hes. went away, I ended up with 5 and it run's GOOD now, the taper of the needle's and the main jet's in the dyno-jet kit are so radical that they let fuel in so much quicker than the stock Keihen's that if you don't have the right amount of air sucking into the carb's it with hesitate or losd up for a split second try the uni-vent's 2 at a time in the lid until the hes. goes away, you'll be alrigh.......

I've also got 5 Uni Vents. I couldn't get the engine to level out with more or less vents, tried it both ways. I leaned the DJ needle down as far as the 3rd notch which made it worse, on the 5th and 6th notches it was too rich. It was decent on the 4th notch in the mid-range but still stumbled when hitting the throttle from a dead stop. I had been running 132 and 136 DJ mains. I got tired of trying, took Alltoy's advice and went back to stock needles and Keihin jets.

This hesitation on take off is driving me crazy. I also have 5 unifilters in my lid but it didn't seem to make any difference. Maybe I'm still too rich. Should I drop down to 128 front and 132 rear (dynojets) or start from scratch and use Keihin jets 142 front and 145 rear? My main problem is with 4 kids its hard to find time to ride let alone rejett frequently.
