There was a short article in the front pages about a company that will custom fit a cr250 liquid cooled 2 stroke putting out 45 hp into a 400 ex chassis with an aftermarket exhaust. The company is called Service Honda in Hammond, Indiana. The price is estimated to be close to 8,000.

hey, you yamaha guys didnt happen to notice a thread over in yamaland about a new 450cc sport quad with raptor plastics? i bet you all did.
and every one of the people replying seem to believe it too. so why is it that when there is a rumor about honda, noone seems to believe it, but when something good happens over in yamaland, everyone is quick to believe it.

What odds really? They'll come out with a new bike when the ones they are making now stop selling well. Why would a business spend a lot in R&D when they are moving machines as fast as they can build them. They are making the machine that their customers want. If a particular customer wants more technology, then teh other manafacturers are there to support them. Eventually it will come to a point where what they build will stop selling and they will have to change.
As far as Honda owners being brand loyal, I dunno, but I can only speak for myself.
Back in '98 when I went shopping for a 4x4 Utility or sporty utility I wasn't brand loyal at all, having never owned an ATV. I test rode everything I coould in the 450 and up class which at the time wern't very many bikes.
'98 Grizley - didn't feel comfrotable, high center gravity, didn't handle well for an in experienced rider.
'98 Kodiak - was nothing special in my books, didn't like the look or features at the time, less power than Honda 450, only 2 headlights.
'98 Polaris 500 - Didn't like the maintenance of greasing everything, there were alot in the repair bay at the dealer, expensive.
'98 AC - didn't like the look or feel, did like the gear indicator lights though!
'98 Kawi Prarie - Crappy plastic, crappy or non existant engine braking on test model. + dealer was a A$$
'98 Suzuki 500 - was really close, but deal came out better on teh Honda.
When it came down to it I am still happy with my decision. 4 years trouble free, easy to get mods accessories for and easy to maintain myself. I am loyal to Honda because of this, they made the best bike for my needs at the time, and I don't plan on replacing it for at least another 5 years or longer so long term reliability and maintenance is an issue for me.
If I were to go shopping again, would I buy Honda?? Dunno, I would test ride everything I could again, and base my decision on that, dealer service and price.
