I just purchased a set of used Stage IV pipes and want to know how you tell the differance from the low end model and the hi rev ones. Also I heard that the bigger the silencer the more top end is that true? Mine are the oval ones I take it that they are the hi rev ones and want more bottom end for trail and climbing, can you add a smaller slicencer to the stage IV or am I stuck with it?
I am having a 20cc cool head installed today with FMF torque reeds plus rejetting, I hope this makes a big differance in the responce and added low end.
PS. If you dont hear from me about these add ons then I have launched it off some big hill and killed myself... Hehe

Usually the larger the pipe chamber the more topend it has. Don't go by the size of the muffler because some of the companies have spark arrestors and they are usually bigger and or longer than the normal model of silencers. Spark arrestors will have the spark arrestor deal stamped into the silencers side. If you do have the top end pipe you can always run a larger front or smaller rear sprocket.

You didnt say if you had a banshee or what. You can not change the power band by changing the silencer. The cone angles and length determine the power curve. I really have no idea how you can tell if its a high rever or not. The only ones that I have seen are the high revs, and yes they did have the oval silencer. You should be able to tell if they are high revs whn you ride it. If it stands up and flies when you get to third, then its a high rever. If its a mellower hit then they are likily torque pipes.

I wished I could have talked to you before you bought those sh--y stage IV pipes. I bought a Stage IV High Rev pipe for my 86 250R 4 trax and the pipe totally sucked. I also had them do a Stage IV port job on my cyl and that really sucked. I have now bought a CT Whale pipe and I am getting another cyl to have some one else port it correctly. To answer your question the High Rev pipe is a 3 piece pipe. It comes off the cyl straight for about a foot and then curves back 180 degrees and goes straight back to about the rear shock were the silincer slids on. I think the torque pipe is only 2 sections. hope this helps you if you can get rid of it then do so and get a pipe from LRD, FMF, CT, or Paul Turner.

Well mine is a 2 piece pipe and it seems it have alot of power on my Banshee the cool head 20cc domes and th FMF torque reeds added alot of power to it. The power band comes on alot faster and I have to hold on for dear life now. I paid 225 for the pipes so I guess it was not too bad of a deal.

It now stans up and runs real hard in any gear with the 20 cc cool head and FMF torque valves. I was alot of money but hay I guess I'll only live once, hehe...

Well I am still alive!!! The Banshee runs real strong with the new parts. Only road it for a bit today my wife wanted to ride on my 1602 cc Road Star so I had to do that tonight. Life is tuff... Also I found out the Banshee had a 20 over Wico piston in it so I guess the guy I got it from burnt the orig. out. It seems funny since the bike was almost brand new when I got it 2 yrs ago. I paid $3400.00 for it in show room condition. I think I stole it at that price.
