ftwflh,

The Spurgeon riding area does have some good riding for all levels of ability.

That is a hidden treasure in Southern Indiana.

For anyone heading to Spurgen in the next month or so the DNR has the south side of the area shut off to quads, horses, bicycles and hikers until Feb 1 to let the deer hunters have a safe place to hunt.I guess we all need to share .

Is that going to be all day.

I saw you yesterday around 4:00 pm heading into Lynnville right by that property that has been for sale forever.

Is Lynnville still open to riders? I heard that it was shut down, but that has been a while ago ago. I would like to go back there one time without the rain.

I talked to a guy that was there a couple weeks ago and said people are still riding the north side of 1200. He told me you could hardly find a parking spot. So what is the deal hear no riding on the State Ground which is on the south side of 1200 but you can ride on the private grounfd north of 1200. Is this right?

jcsact,

You can ride north of county road 1200.

In the other thread I said they were just closing the South side. The North side of that road the state does not own.

It will be open.

I would be careful because there is private property mixed with interlake holdings around and in there. Unless things have changed interlake owns most of that old strip mine area still.

Private property on the north side. They just allow it, riding there in some parts owned by interlake.

jcsact,

people have been riding there for years as far as I know without permission.

Interlake just allows it.

Just make sure that you stay on there property and I would think if someone doesn't want you on there land it will be posted.

Interlake foundation is a charitable, non-profit institution.

I have ridden very little north side of the road because that was not the area 5 years ago I was interested in purchasing. The state took over the best areas that was for sale. I guess the property holding are still for sale on the North side of the road if the right buyer would come along. I know there is about 2000 acres the North side of the road. Also that is the area where they want to put that electric generating plant in the future. You can see why.

My bid was accepted for land purchase 3/98 and then rejected when the state of Indiana said they wanted everything south of the road.
