Default My Predator is now PIPED!!!

I got a call today from my dealer to tell me that several items had arrived: My chassis skidplate, A-arm skid plates, tether switch, and most importantly, my PIPE!!!

So I rushed over, picked it up, then came home install it. It took about a half hour (taking my time) and wasn't all that hard. Basically you removed two 1/2" bolts and a 15mm nut holding the existing pipe to the header pipe, and off it came.

The new one goes on in place of it and comes with new hardware (except for the clamp).

It comes with all eight discs installed and the spark arrestor, I decided to remove two discs, but I'll bring the others with me for tuning this weekend. Gotta find the right spot for best top end without killing the low-end.

How does it sound? Awesome!! It sounds a lot like my friend's piped Raptor with a Supertrapp IDS2, but not quite as low-pitched. More like a cross between that and my 400EX with its Big Gun.

If the weather doesn't totally suck when we go riding on Sunday, I'll try to get some video footage of it with the pipe so the new sound can be compared to my existing video with the stock pipe.

Rob, do you have a way of getting a sound meter? 20" away from the end at a 45 degree angle is where DNR folks measure from. Idle, 1/2 throttle, and wot. I would like to know the db's before ordering the silencer. If their past is any indication, White Bros. has the 4-strokers dialed in.

I don't have a sound meter but I've been wanting one... if Radio Shack has one for a fair price that's decent quality, I will pick one up and do the test for you.

The pipe comes with a "quiet core" to bring the sound level down if needed, plus you can also remove discs to quiet it down.

I think this pipe will perform well since it's a disc design with a closed-end... that means all the sound is going around the pipe instead of directly out the back.

BTW, I now have the head pipe on order too.

I brought my Predator home today!

Dealer ordered my exhaust.

Did yours come with jetting recommendations?

The instructions say that stock jetting is still fine (suuuure). I'm not going to worry about it until the filter or header pipe comes in.

Stock jetting is a 150 main and 45 pilot. At my elevation (4500') I'm guessing I will probably be fine until then, and then I might go up to a 155 main, and maybe play with the needle a bit. I dunno, I'm far from a carb guru.

8 disks?? Thats all. Most aftermarkets run 12-16 disks out of the box.

Whats the name brand for the pipe? My Alba pipe comes with 12 disks and I'm now running 18. Rule of thumb on disk type pipes, If you didn't know this already.

More disks = better top end less bottom end, leaner fuel mixture
Less disks = better bottom end less top end, richer fuel mixture.

Just for information sake, when I installed the extra 6 disks I didn't notice any loss of low end, slightly gained some top.

Thanks for posting your videos by the way.
