Just bought my first ATV..........opinions

Hello and Merry Christmas,
I just purchased my first ATV. The Arctic Cat 400 is what I chose. I am not racing and do not care for the speed. I am needing it for a deer farming operation. Hauling protein bags, hay , moving tranqualized deer and the normal farm stuff. I may also use it for hunting. I am going to put a small rack that will be larger than the one on it. It will have sides a little bigger, possibly portable. My picking the AC was because of its higher clearance and larger gas tank and that it can go 2 wheel and shift to 4 wheel. It was a tough decision with Honda and Kawasaki at the top also. Sooooooo...... what do you think???

yeah, as long as you got what you wanted, good deal, i just got my KFX, exactly what i wanted, i ride with friends that have stock raptors, shees, 400exs, and warriors, so i hang w/ em and handle as good, if not better, i chose the KFX because it had the extra oomph the warrior didnt have and felt more natural than the 400ex, wasnt as tippy as raptors and is a 4 stroke, which is what i was looking for

Good call - I got an AC 500i for farm work and goofing off last spring, after 8 months I have no regrets. It did everything I wanted it to do, and as my farm is rough as a cob, I have a few 'cat only' trails. Good hauler, I use it to drag trees off of fencerows (farm is lotsa hardwood trees, a few fences, I gave up on the rest), and lately hauling firewood. Very good for that, it goes places I wouldn't dare take my truck. Check out the AC wagon for hauling a load, it's reasonably priced and has fat tires so you can haul a load across rough ground. The cat is a real no nonsense workhorse - not a lot of electronic gizmos, but guts where it counts.
Went water skiing with the 500i today. It's been raining like crazy in KY, and my creek is really up - 25 feet across, probably 2-3 feet deep in the shallow section. I hit it going at a pretty fair speed, and it skated about halfway across before it lost speed and touched bottom. Got soaked in the process, but it was fun.

Thanks fellas. I also see it has the 12 volt outlets for electronics and hand tools which will really come in handy. I am building a utility trailer and plan to pick it up from the dealer on the 28 or 29 th. Paid for it Tuesday. The 500 and the 400 weigh the same from what I can see. I thought about the 500 but am not going to be working super heavy loads . Maybe 200-300 tops. Oh yes, the wagon sounds like a neat idea. I am going to check my dealer for it. Merry Christmas and thanks again. God Bless
