Default Predator airbox mods

Just thought I'd share a performance tip on the new Predator. As those of you who have bothered to check the airbox know, they are very restrictive and can't breath as well as they should due to the small diameter of the inlet tube. I bought a six pack of the Uni airbox plugs and drilled six holes in the front angled section towards the bottom of the airbox, removed the foam plug pads, inserted the plugs and went for a spin. I noticed a little extra mid and high end power -low end power stayed the same. This tells me the Predator will respond well to the right airbox mods, K&N filter and WB silencer. The silencer is on now, but no ride time with it yet. Will post official *** dyno results this weekend.

Those of you in areas with a lot of water, be careful with these airbox mods. They could haunt you in the wet stuff.

I need to examine mine more closely... but I think I agree with what you (I think it was you) said a while back in another thread about maybe replacing the whole airbox with a big conical filter. Hmmm.

You could do that or drill a hole or 2 small ones in the back of the air box and put in some flex pipe and run it into that little pocket at the back of the seat then it will suck air from under the seat also. Might be the best setup, for those in sand, mud and water.

Without examining one first hand ( Delivery is three weeks away) Is it possible to remove the entire airbox and install a carb mounted K&N? Thx, Rich A

Yes with the right carb boot and a crankcase filter.
