I was wondering how much it would cost total project to rebuild a 1997 Polaris 400cc Sport??? I would also like to know where to get the best deals on quality parts for a cheap price. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

If your just talking about top end, I can get it done by using only $150. That's a Wiseco piston, gaskets and bore. I usually order from Rocky Moutain, but you might be able to catch a deal on eBay, just be sure it's a Wiseco piston. And a bore job here where I live is only $30, it may vary where you live.

complete rebuild: engine, clutch, steering, suspension = $1500 trail / $3000 race
upgrade : tires & rims, brakes, drive line (chains, sprockets,etc.), other misc. = $500 / $1000 additional
I am working out the final details to upgrade my 2000 scambler 400 4x4. I still need to decide if I'm going with the full race mods, or just the trail mods and buy a pure sport quad. If I go race mods I expect to spend $3000 - $3500. Trail mods about $1200-$1500.
So, a complete rebuild - I mean making everything right....everything!!!! will set you back $2000-$4000 depending on what your idea of a rebuild is. The other reply suggested just a top-end rebuild, if that's all you need $200 will get you there with quality parts.
By the way Rick Ritter at RCR has the best deals in town, and is second to none when it comes to service. Give this guy a call, he'll hook you up with what you need. (618) 644-3211
