250r engine sputtering

first i would like to say that all you guys/gals that post info on here are awesome. my problem is when i rev my r up it begins to sputter but only in the top of each gear and it is also already warmed up. any help would be much appreciated.

Sound like it might be to rich. Check to see what color your plug is. It should be a tannish white color.

Yeah sounds like the main jet is a little to big. Either that or your coil or black box has started to go bad. My '86 would cut out when reved up high when the coil went out.

JD and CT are right. Do a plug chop on your bike, and check it's color, should be the Tan color that JD spoke of. If you don't know what a plug chop is here you go, run the bike hard across an open area in 4th gear, wide open, pull in the clutch and hit the kill switch. Stop and pull out the plug, it will probably be black from the problems you seem to be having. Later.
