I am going to be doing my first ice race the 25th of January. I am going to buy a rear lowering strut and make my own front lowering kit. I just need to know some tips. I know there has to be some ice racers out there, so any help would be great! Also if someone has a front or rear lowering kit they'd wanna let go, tell me!

Hi,
Flipping your front rims will give you some added width and if you dont already have a wider axle, some spacers would do you good. dropping the front sprocket may help depending on how much straits there are and always start in 2nd basically the wider and lower you can get it the better. Good luck! and keep it studs down!

 

I dont think I can flip my rims because the valve stem will hit the discs.

You need to get shorty stems, avail at any tire shop for about 10 bucks a set

what kind of ice race like a oval thing or a track its my first ice race (6hours-track) this year 2 but i can't give away any of our secrets or else i'll be in trouble but i will tell you the most thing important practice!!! a lot of its the rider 2nd most important tires and studs 3rd before the race get set up and try different things and learn from experience the first ice race my dad did the setup was not nearly as good as now 4 years later but most of all have fun tell us how you do i have to race against 250rs and 400ex and z400s in my class so i don't have much of a chance of winning but i'm just learning so that when i get a more powerful quad i don't hurt myself...lata

Lower and wider. I don't know about banshees but on a Raptor you can flip the rear linkage to lower it. I suggest a durablue front lowering kit because I don't like the angle of the shock on some kits that move the lower shock mount out. You also want the rear soft for weight transfer and the front right stiff if you run ovals. I studded Razrs on the rear and stock Dunlops on the front and it hooks up good. I am no expert and am just getting into ice racing for fun but I can tell you it is a riot. Just watch out for the guy that hits the outer snowbank on the exit of the turn. Right Big Daddy?
