Where I hunt here in Louisiana it is covered 90% of the season with water and allot of mud. I would like to buy a new bike yet can not make up my mind. Right now I have a 1994 Yamaha Kodiak 400. And that thing will swim. But Yamaha does not make a big c.c. shifter bike and all the ones I have seen at the camp the belts stay wet. I would like to know what ya'll think about ya'lls machine in particular how it performs in deep water and mud. I am especially looking at either the 500 ho 600 or 700 twin. Thanks in advance for your input!

 

Hey hawkeye welcome to the ATVConnection,
I have a 700, and in stock trim you should by pretty safe as long as you keep the water below the gas cap(that's where most of the snorkels end, a few vent lines may need to be tied up even for that though). How much water are you talkin' about? Are you one of those guys you see in the pictures where the only thing sticking out of the water is you? If so, sorry, I have no experience with snorkels on the 700.

 

I agree with sprtsmnfan. I have taken mine up to the gas tank many times, but don't dare go any further.

yes, the SP500's and 700's i have owned have all been terrific deep mud and water machines. my 700 a little more water than the others. (and i assume the 600 would be just like the 700 to.)
