Default clutch kits

I'm also looking at getting a clutch kit, but I haven't rode a scrambler after being clutched. How does it change the way the power comes on? Is it just that the engagement is higher, or does it always keep a higher RPM? Is this harder on the motor? I do mostly trail riding so I like how smooth the power is stock. So I don't know if a clutch kit is the way to go. Thanks.

I know someone who put a clutch kit on his 00 Scrambler 4X4 and it is quite a bit faster off the line, no difference in top end. No other mods done yet. Riding on tight trails is more difficult because the engagement RPM has risen. He has to do a lot of short throttle bursts when we ride on really tight twisty trails.
