Ok, heres the deal im going to be buying a new quad this spring. I want honest opinions not trash talking here. Id really like for people who have ridden both to reply with some good info for me. Im really undecided on this between the Raptor and to LTZ400. Im 5'8 and about 235 pounds. I also use to ride a 2000 Warrior. So the dilema is 1.) Price difference, Is the Raptor worth the extra money? 2.)Power, I know the Raptor has more but Im not really sure if I want to hurt myself with it? Stepping up from a Warrior is going to be a big difference on either machine. But I dont want to get a LTZ and think ok now I need more! And can you pipe and jet a LTZ 400 and get a decent improvement or is it tweaked to the max already? 3.)Suspension, how are the Raptors? I hear everything about the LTZ seemingly being the better ride? just hype? Also any other information one could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time everyone!

 

At 235# I would not consider the z400. It would probably suit someone under 175# better though.

 

I'll second that, I personally considered the Z but I have to many time said this will be the bike, atv, car.... I will keep for 10 year and can feel comfortable spending $$$$ on extras, well i believe the raptor is one i will keep simply because I cannot see getting any fast for the riding i do its just nuts, its about the only thing that seems to give me a "Cr250" kind of thrill with 4 wheels. You ride eme you decide just don't buy a Z until you experience a Raptor though or you'll always wonder.

get a raptor, they have more power, they are faster, and they are better.

 

I have to agree with the other guys. Both bikes are great, however size does make a difference. I'm 200 lbs and have rode both, the suzuki is nice, but you can beat engine displacement. I own 2 C-dales, 250R and a tricked Banshee, love em all but can't replace the horsepower of my Banshee. Good luck on whichever you decide on!![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

Ive ridden both the quads you mentioned and I was much more comfortable on the raptor, I am closer to your dimensions myself.

Have you ridden a Honda 400? Pretty much the same as the LTZ400 as far as size and ride.It's a little quicker.Raptor suspension is ok I do bottom out on big jumps-200 pounds.Love the power

 

Raptor23- Surely you jest about a 400EX being faster than a Z right? To this date I have never seen a FAST stock EX!!!!

 

I think Raptor23 meant the Z was quicker. I also have to agree based on your size, better to have the power and not use it than not have it at all and want it.
