Three of my friends at work own 450S bikes. They have had no problems with them. They are the same as the 450ES, with the exception of the handlebar shifter, floorboards, and display. Two of the guys, after riding my 450ES, wish they had the ES instead of the S. Either way you would have a great bike.

I recently purchased a 450s and have nothing but good reports for you, it's got great low end power for work and is fairly comfortable for long rides. My wife actually prefered the s model because she likes to shift.

What about the floorboards. Did you put some on the 450 S.

I traded a '99 Sp500 for a '00 450s. At first, I did not like the ride of the Honda...felt like a shopping cart compared to the Sportsman. But now I'm either used to it, or it's starting to break-in. The Honda's handling is much more precise, super-low maintenance and very well constructed. I've added a winch, aluminum wheels and four 25x10 Goodyear MudRunners. I'm very pleased with the 450s.

I have a 99 and my buddy rides a 98. Both are s models and neither has had even 1 breakdown. We both have in excess of 2000 miles. Both have 26x12x12 tires, winches and lift kits. I couldnt be happier with it. If you like to ride and not repair it is a great choice.
Good luck

How hard was it putting the floorboards on the 450 S. Can you give me some pointers.

Well how I got my floorboards is when we got the 00 450-s. When we were there we asked about if we could get floorboards on it and they said yes. It
is a aftermarket thing that you'r dealer should have. They installed it for us so it was prety goed of them.
