Blown up tranny
#1
After travel all the way to Glamis from Seattle area of Washington, got there on Thursday night after stopping by Trinity shop for Airraptor to put the motor together. Fri morning we went out on a group run till Biggerisbetter broke down. So I towed him and his bike back to the camp. Then later on the day the group went out and I went after them about 30 sec behind and as I get closer then the tranny blew up. It blew about 1/2" hole on top of the case. Nice one...... all this for 30 min riding time and it went south.... was I **** not really, bum yes!
Took to the shop and they show me that 4th gear dog teeth that connect to 2nd gear grenade in several pieces. This gear is after market from Sam Coe of Fortin gear. I only had totally of 24 hour of fun riding time, (no racing at all) and it went south. So now seening will Sam Coes warranty their gear or not, mostly likely not.
Tell me can I put 02 gears into my 01 motor and what I need to do to it right since it the 2nd time it happen and this one went big bang!! I don't want to put 01 new gears back into at all!!
Thanks.....
Bill
Also My DSL was down for 2 weeks till today......bummer

. Fortin gears and everything. Was the 4th gear wheel a fortin gear? Did you just replace 1 or 2 gears last time with fortins or the whole tranny assembly with fortin gears? What a great loss of funtime to have it go out at FSW's, only to come home and have no internet access. Not to mention the hole in your case.

desracers- The swap is easy. I am doing it also since my trannie went south for the second time. Looks to be around 400 for the parts. Did it tear up both cases on yours??? Sorry about your problem. You should have went with me to Yuma and got a 03 also. Still have 10 days before i see the credit card bill. lol

Sounds like the weak link in the raptors? I just blew a gear in my banshee, except it really blew. It split the cases completely in half from the left side of the countershaft all the way across the the clutch cover. Opps....2nd gear is a b!tch...!

Well today I finally got the rappy back from the shop about a month. With the upgrade 02 gears along with new piston and cam that I got from Craycraft. The piston is 11.1 and stage one cam. The shop mechanic was surprise how quick the rappy is after making sure it running right before I pick it up.
The damage control came down to $1231.42. OUCH.....
Now looking forward to go riding next weekend.....

well the shop warranty cover some of it, about $800 went to warranty then the rest was pay by me. It better paying the whole thing. That the way I look at it. All Sam Coe will do of the Fortin gears is just replace the broken gear. They won't warranty their gears if fail. I won't go back to them ever again....
Also for the case they unable to weld it since it close to split case so they put JB weld to cover the 1/2" hole....
