You won't believe this '98 sport HPD 440
#1
My buddy bought this 440 sport that was blown up. So he put a new piston and rings with hone job.
Came over yesterday and we broke it in. It's a HPD 440 Kit with Race Porting, v-force reeds, 42mm carb.
HPD pipe/silencer. Run oil injection with 50 to 1 oil mix in tank.
At 64mph on my Prairie 650 he passes me like I'm sitting still. When I rode it I had no problem out running my Prairie with only half throttle. on a one mile drag race the Sport is a good 3/8ths mile ahead.
On the road it spins out for the first 100 yds. Man this thing is awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On 22" tires we couldn't keep in on the ground to ride or steer. So we put 25" 489's on it and spins them the same way. We need HoleShots on this Baby.
This Sport runs an easy 80 mph. When we run it in front of a car I tell you how fast for sure.
This quad is a fricking Animal !!!!! Down right Dangerious. The Aaen 440 Explorer we built is nothing compared to the Sport. The Aaen Kit was a waste of Money. A stock 400 will out run the Aaen quad.
the stock 400 is left in garage when the 440 Sport is out.

PRAIRIETWIN,
Instead of putting bigger tires on it, gear it down. You can get a 30 tooth rear sprocket from the Sportsman 6x6's axle to axle chain drive to fit the Sport. It is a common mod for people who have done mods to their Sports. A longer swingarm will help too, but don't go too long. 2" should be about right. Any longer and you risk wheel spin problems. This should keep the front end on the ground. Still be cautious of it, on pavement it will still want to wheelie.

And now you know why we can talk smack to some of the other brands. Now if you can only imagine alcohol on it and gain another 10HP all on the stock swingarm.fun fun fun!!!!

Bubba,
I know someone that has a Scrambler with the full HPD race mod with the powervalve system. He says it has close to 100 hp and he has been clocked in at 92mph. I saw him race his brother on a modded ds650 and a preditor. He made it look like they were standing still. He could go half throttle and hit it full open and pull the wheels up. He also said he does not have it dialed in yet and it will do around 95mph I dont think he would lie. I have known him for a while. His dad owns a Polaris,Bombardier dealership and this is where I get all my parts at cost. I just want to know if it is possable for his 400 to do 92mph?
That thing is scary fast!!!

He's gonna have to be geared so high he would end up burning belts. With a 15-34 gearing, my wheeler stays on the target rpm of 7600 while shifting out until it gets to about 800ft out. Then it is totally shifted out and the rpms start climbing from there. It was crossing the 1000ft mark at the dragstrip at 7950 rpms. The ideal thing would be to put more gear in it, but when I do it tries to lag off the line when the tires bite hard. Mine was crossing the finish line at 81mph. Like CED said, it could be done, but not with any kind of stock or even slightly changed gearing. I run also the 21'' radial tires on a 9'' rim. The powervalve setup is supposed to make right at 87hp on peak. Not bad, but I dont have near the money in my alky bike motor and it runs just as good. There is no doubt I can be going along at 40mph and gas it and it would flip over on me. Ask him what gearing and tire size he has, and let us know. Simple mathmatics will tell the truth. Bubba

I dont know what gearing he has but I do know that he is running stock tires, and that his top rpm,s are at about 10,800. No joke! I have seen it for myself. I have rode the bike and it is REAL fast. I never seen it clocked and I never went wide open.TOO SCARED I GUESS. I cant see myself doing more than 70 on a bike. I will ask him exactly everything he has. He has alot of money tied up in it and he has never been beaten in a drag. I watch him tear up the other bikes at his test track.

2many, if your buddy is runnning the complete powervalve kit from HPD including their pipe, it makes it's max power at 7800rpms. After that the power drops off sharply. By 10,800 he wouldnt have 40hp left. The most radical pipe for racing I have found is made by CPI and it comes out the side of the bike and turns about 8200rpms. Call mike at HPD on monday and he'll tell you they wont turn 10,800. I dont mean to be blunt, but they wont do it. Even the snowmobiles motor as radical as they are never see more than about 9500.
