I want to say that a trailblazer is a 2 stroke. If i'm correct theres nn comparison between them, the 250ex will lose. Now I've never ridden a blazer but comparing the our ex to our blaster the ex loses bad everytime.

a polaris 2 stroke IS..........(NO WAY NEAR)
like a honda 2-stroke or a yamaha 2-stroke..............
the trailblazer only does about 40-45.mabe a little faster
if a 300ex can smoke a trailblazer........i have done it
i would think a 250ex would too..........
but mabe not....

Actually they are pretty even, the 250EX will probably get a good jump in the beginning if the person can drive, due to the Polaris' automatic lag time. Although in a long enough race the Trailblazer may inch by if it has taller gearing. In the dunes, the 2-stroke top end would probably come into play.

2-stroke engine vs. 4-stroke engine, both with the same displacement- the 2-stroke puts out more horsepower....it will win every time (assuming similar traction for both machines) If the polaris had a manual transmission, it would probably beat the EX by an even greater margin (although the higher torque of the 4-stroke would probably allow the EX to get the jump off the start in the sand).

Don't forget that the trailblazer weighs about 100 lbs more than the 250ex, which is why we sold ours. I would say in a straight line the ex will take it off the line but the trailblazer would pull it on top. On the trails or track there is no comparison, the honda handles and jumps WAY better.

Ask Mike Chero, he owns both I think. I would say the trailblazer would win by very little I have rode both and they feel about the same, 250ex has a little bit faster take off, but less top-end. The reason the polaris 250's are slow is because they are non reed induction they just have an open valve like the older 2 strokes, making them rev low and not make very good power they don't have a powerband they are just smooth like a 4 stroke. The Polaris 250's are extremely reliable almost like a 4 stroke the top-end hardly wears on them.

Yep, I do have both, but I don't think it would be a fair comparison. For one thing, the only Trailblazer I have left (I owned two at one time) has a 34mm carb, pipe, silencer, clutch kit, 38 tooth rear sprocket and K&N airfilter on it. The 250EX is not modified other than the wheel spacers on it.
That having been said, the Trailblazer will beat the 250EX out pretty handily. Although both have about the same top speeds, the TB gets there quicker due to the automatic transmission and two stroke motor. The thing about the automatic tranny having a lag in it is B.S. when you're talking about a drag race. You rev the motor up until the clutches start to engage and give it full throttle when the starter says go. Then you keep the throttle nailed, no letting up for shifting. The clutches (if properly tuned) will keep the motor at it's maximum horsepower throughout the race.
Yes, the Trailblazer is a full 100 lbs heavier than the 250EX, but the Trailblazer does make a lot more horsepower than the 250EX. Granted, it's not even in the same class as a stock 250R (due to the weighty chassis and piston port motor) but the motor produces around 22 HP at the crankshaft while the 250EX makes about 15 or less at the crankshaft. Two stroke versus four stroke does come into play even with the antique piston port motor on the TB.
In case anyone is wondering why I own both, it's because I can get to my Trailblazer and work on it every chance I can. While the 250 ex is 120+ miles away at my kids/EX (not Honda EX) wifes house. They needed a reliable machine that I didn't have to go broke working on every weekend. Thus the Honda 250ex. It's been stone cold reliable.
