Elka stock rebuild--What do you think?
#1
I am planning on purchasing new Elka's for my Raptor. I would like to know if anyone around here is using a rear rebuilt SSD stock Raptor shock. I have the front shocks picked out, just want to get some feedback from anyone who is/has used this as an alternative to purchasing a brand new rear shock...Thanks

I was wondering the same thing when I was shopping for a rear shock upgrade. I went with the Elka rather than the rebuild. The rebuild sounds very attractive but I chose the Elka because the Quad shop indicated it's got 1-1.5" more travel. I figured it would be cheaper to go all the way first instead of feeling like "it could still get better if I had an Elka......"
I'm sure the re-build is a big improvement but I wanted to put thi upgrade to rest once and for all - if that's possible !!
I hope to test ride the new shock this weekend.....Eric

Fisher, how do you like the Works fronts, I thought about going that way, but I really am interested in the SSD elkas. If I can't afford the elkas when I am ready to buy I may go with works unless it isn't worth it?

I was hoping someone would say it worked out well! That rear Elka is just downright expensive to buy new...Looks like the TCS is in about the same group as far as price. Might have to call and get some info on those as well..Thanks for the replies!

I can hook you up with a new set of fronts + rear rebuild for 1100.00 including shipping.

Raptorridr660,
I pretty much like the Works fronts but, after seeing the workmanship and quality of work on the Elkas, I wish I would have saved up a bit more coin and gone Elka all the way around. Dollar-for-dollar the Works products work well, but..........
Works - $350 is a lot more "tolerable" at first but in hindsight (a year later) I think I might have been better off buying the Elkas because that's where I'm gonna end up !
It never ends and I love it !

I know it might not help you guys because your refering to the raptor rear shock being converted, but
I have an Elka conversion on my 250r and I cant really tell if there is a difference between my converted rear shock and my Elka ssd's up front. I think the conversion works great.
