Default Sold my Banshees. Bought two Predators. See ya!

I have been on the site a long time as a devoted Banshee rider.

However, I went out last night and bought two new Predators for my son and I.

No more mixing fuel, buying race gas, kickstarting, burnt out lights, changing plugs, etc., etc.

I will miss all of the conversations I had with Roostking, MichaelAZ and others. You guys gave me great advice!

I am now going to be hanging out on the Polaris Forum (man, that was hard to say!).

Good luck to all!

rob,

congrats! on the new toys, I also was tired of the hassle of keeping up a banshee when I bought my BOMB, and don't regret it AT ALL. But I do miss the Banshee from time to time. Something about that Burst of power that NO man can soon forget.

Predators are great quads! Enjoy.

Sorry to see you give up the banshee's, but I can understand. Everyone needs a change once in awhile.

I know that I will never get rid of my banshee, but I also have the 4 stroke to play with. Keeps me happy on both sides.

Congrats on the new predator, they look like a nice machine.

Well guys....I am back to the Yamaha Forum!

I sold my Banshees and bought 2 Polaris Predators last month. They sucked!

I couldn't get them dialed in to save my life!

Anything over half-throttle resulted in popping and back-firing. And no, it wasn't the Rev-Limiter. Rev Limiters don't kick on at half-throttle and 6200 RPM. Yes, I had the right kind of Tachometer.

I tried every main jet size imaginable from the stock 150 to a 190. Yes, I changed the needle position. Yes, I changed the pilot jet. Yes, I tried the K and N filter. Yes, I changed the plugs. Yes, I tried different disc combinations in the silencer. Yes, I took both of them back to the dealer and they couldn't fix them.

In all, I spent over $500.00 in jet kits and other "fixes." Nothing worked. There is something seriously wrong with the Predators!

I took my two new Predators back to the dealer yesterday and gave them back. I left with two new Raptors with WB Silencers.

If you are experiencing problems with your Predator popping, don't let anyone convince you it is the Rev-Limiter. It is something far more serious! You heard it here first!

So, I am back in the Yamaha forum!

Rob!,
So your back on a Yamaha! Its not a banshee, bit it will do! To bad about the Predators though. they seem to beworking for the people that have them, but they may not realize its a problem.

Anyhow, i got my Fullbore on, but I havent got with your guy to see about graphics. Im working on Photoshop just trying to see what colors work. thanks again and lets hook up!

G'day rob.

Mate ,congratulations on your new purchases. I've followed all of your posts on different forums as I have had the same problems. As some of my posts to you indicated I was praying that you'd find a fix, so I could do the same.
One last question, did the air force kit help at all?

I'm looking forward to hearing some great stories from you and your son.

Good luck to you & your family.

Avagoodweekend, from down under, Geoff.

I traded a built 400ex for a predator last fall and couldn't be happier!! I'm running the WB slip on with 160 main and the clip in the 3rd or 4th postion(depending on the weather) and 10-12 discs. Mine runs great. The only problem I've had is getting the grin off my face after I smoked raptors, Z-400's, 400ex's, and C-Dales at the track yesterday! Aussierider:

The Air Force Kit helped, but didn't fix the problem. Gary was exceptionally helpful and considerate, but no matter what I did to adjust it, they didn't fix the problem.

I do not believe the popping problem was speicific to my Predator only since I had two and they had the exact same popping issue.

I agree, I believe all of the Predators have this problem. Those who haven't complained simply believe the popping is due to the Rev Limiter coming on. It is not! A Rev Limiter does not cause popping. If you don't believe me, put a tach on and go for a ride. That will show you it is not the Rev Limiter but something much more complicated and difficult to repair.
