Default Honda ATC 70

Need help with a honda atc 70 that will not run well without the choke on. The carb is clean with all new internal components and there are no air leaks in the motor. the bike will idle with the choke off but has a severe hesitaion when trying to ride it. The plug stays good for a while but fouls after running to rich from the choke. Everything on the bike seems good. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

My 110 used to do that because the card was dirty, but yours is clean.Have you tried adjusting your fuel mixture screw? It could also be because you timing is off.Are you sure you checked the fuel switch? Thats all i can think of.Hope it helps.

Hi,

I too have a 85' ATC 70 and it too runs like crap. I picked it up last week four a couple bills.

I shall try new points and a good carb cleaning.

If this doesn't work - I shall be back.

Thank you very much as usual ATVConnection riders!

Question: How many turns should the mixture screw be at?
My bike didn't even have one until yesterday!

The idiot I bought it from had the back wheels on inside out, and traded the stock front whell for a wheelbarrow tire! Moron.

I guess I need to learn the art of four stroke tuning. Valve tuning, etc. Any good books?

Thanks,

Wayne

Just adjusting the points made it run perfect.

Had to use a test light - and just adjust the points so that it goes dimm when the points mark matches the alternator mark.

I just put a CDI ignition on my 84 70. I got a kit off ebay from a guy in Malasia. I am amazed at how much better it runs now, has a lot more power. All 7 of my other ATCs have CDI, I had forgotten how crappy point type ignition systems were.
