New Baja 650, what are the top 3 Mods I need??
#1
OK, so I will get the new 2003 Baja. What are the first 3 things I need to do to this bike. I will ride mostly wooded trails and cutlines as well as some gravel trails. No sand ( unfortunatley) I want to have quick throttle response and I don't care too much about top end. As long as I can hit 65/70 mph from time to time. I will be riding at about 2500/3000 feet.
Thanks for the help

Performance the first three things to do would be these:
1. Slip on exhaust.
2. Jet Kit
3. Carb mount filter
For trails the first things need to be these:
1. Swing arm skid plate
2. 23" front tires 22" rears
3. A-arm skids.
Depends what route you wanna take.

just like they said. i actually just got done putting those mods on my baja (- the cdi) and am getting a much better throttle response and the power is very noticable. Plus these are about the cheapest and easiest mods your gonna do.
pro circuit slip on=189.00
K&N filter=40.00
K&N Outerware=10.00
Dynojet jetkit=50.00
having the fastest quad out of my riding buddies=priceless
hey one mod you might want to consider for trail riding would be a six pack rack, gotta have a drink with ya on those trails right

Don't know if you can find the Pro Circuit for a buck-eighty-nine anymore...blastnbaja? You might consider just going with the billet end cap and .if you like the looks of a shiney pipe you might consider getting the stock unit ceramic coated or plated. Other than that definately go with a different filter...uni seems to be the choice for dusty areas...k&n with waterrepelant outerwear a good one also. I think new tires are a must...22in rear 23in front...if your riding over a lot of rocks/bolders you might want to put good skid plates. I have Pro Armor with zero complaints...I know some people have issues with them--not me. A jet kit is a must if you go with a pipe or endcap and filter. Dynojet kit will provide you with a nice assortment of mains and a needle with a different taper that many are much happier with--better throttle response. Up north you probably ride a lot when it's cold, so...maybe you should consider going with heated hand gripsand an a heated vest. Last but not least you may benefit highly from a changing your gearing from stock 16x40 to 15x42 especially if you go with the bigger tires...JMO.

Go with a carb mount Uni for $16.00
Dyno jet kit from Rockymountainatv.com for $44.95
You can get the Pro Circuit from RMATV for I think $209.00
You can also get the HMF for around $200, I think the MBRP is about $250.00
Ask around and check "what's in your garage" thread. I'm sure there's someone around here that has a pipe for sale.
