it's not that bad but you would probably need a manual if you don't know your way around the banshee. i don't think i would attempt it without some directions if i were you. i did it and didn't need a manual but i know my way around the motor pretty well.

Take the 3 phillips screws out that hold the plastic water pump cover on. Take the gold plate off to drain coolant. Take the kick starter off. Take the foot peg off as well as the rear brake pedal. Drain the tranny fluid. Take screws (including the one allen head on the front) out of the clutch cover. Remove cover. Take the plastic gear off of the water pump shaft then remove the 1/2 inch long pin. The impeller will come out of the front then. Slide the impeller in then reverse procedure. Remember to put new tranny fluid in as well as coolant. Make sure to keep the coolant topped off.

Easy to do, give yourself a couple of hours. No special tools needed.

While I was there, this is what I would recommend:
Modifying your shift star or going with one from Cascade.
Going to YZ490 clutch springs.
Going with a pro-design or James Lucky water pump cover. It will let you drain coolant without removing the cover.
Going with stainless allen screws in the clutch cover. www.hy-tech-atv.com is the cheapest. Easier to remove next time because you will strip the phillips this time.
Engine Ice for coolant

Remember you will need a new clutch cover gasket. I think Prodesign gives you the pump cover gasket with the impeller. There should also be instructions in there.

If you run into any questions, PM me.
