Dumont this past weekend

What a great time it was. This was my first big weekend at Dumont. Wow!! was it great. Tons of people and plenty to see and do. I got to meet yet another forum member. JSsDS...prolly the fasted (only piped and jetted) ds i've seen. Super nice guy. Look forward to ridding with you again.
The sand out there was really wet Friday and Saturday. It took a lot of everyones power. I was expecting to be able to pull the hill this time in 4th. But was only able to get 3rd. Untill Sunday. Then i was able to get 4th for most of the hill But still did better to stick with 3rd. Washrdskin and I swapped wins as usual and other than being beat by Sand Pig, RaptorRyan, Raptor74LV, an Alba raptor?? and a friend of Al's on a DS it was all wins.
I will be there next pres weekend for sure

had great time at dumont until saturday, had an accident over at comp hill. front tire of my ds was clipped at the start of a race and i was thrown off my bike and air lifted to umc in vegas. luckily no broken bones, just some gnarly chest pains from the blunt trauma. luckiliy the only thing that happened to my bike was the new headlight i just bough got broken, and my steering stem is bent. thats what i gathered from looking at it this morning. when i feel a little better im going to tear her down adn see what else is broke. im surprised how it survived being i saw it upside down next to me.
if anybody saw the incident from this forum, please post here so i can see what happened

Didn't see that crash but saw a Blonde girl on a raptor getting ready to race her friend on a Raptor and Raptor74lv and she flipped it backwards on the start. Landed flat on her back and head hard. Rescue was there fast and the helicopter flew above but she got up after awhile and walked away. Probably knocked the wind out of her and gave herself a headache.
Got to try out some 20" haulers this weekend. What a difference a tire makes. I usualy run 22" haulers and the 20" were just what the doctor ordered for that hill to pull hard and strong in 3rd gear. Saturday my bro was whoopin up on me bad with the wet sand and my 22" tires. Sunday when I switched it was all over.
20" tires don't dig holes like some have said. Maybe on a heavier DS but on my Rappy they were beautiful. I'll be switching soon.

No I didn't see your crash. And glad that I didn't. I hate to see others crash. Brings back bad memories.
I didn't get aeway this weekend without my own crash either. I was dragging up the hill that the jeeps used. On my way down I tried to miss one of their tire holes at the last second. Bad mistake. I'll ride through it next time. Any how. My left front slid into the hole as I had the bars cranked. Yes I rolled. Bike went right over me. I tried to grabv it to keep it from riolling all the way down the hill. Well...it's a DS. But I was able to keep it to one roll. The one over me I was lucky as so was my DS. No harm no foul.
Yep your right bro. on Sunday who ever had the far left line got the win. Just so you know though. Rocky has my 20x10x10 9 paddles for les than 90 bones. Im hoping that will take care of whatever line I get.

Wow guys...sounds like Dumont was as exciting as GW! Hope you got a few pics to share.? Interesting conversating about the tire size. KMDuner and I ran a few times and I won too many of those runs...we decided that it was the difference in number of paddles. I was running 8 paddles and Keith was running 10...the sand was moist and we were pretty much convinced that 10 was just too many after the start; he'd pull me at the beginning but I'd catch him by mid-hill...BTW, thanks for the pointers, Larry
4wheelphreek...dude! Glad you are okay! I hate it when people don't get back up...and have to be hauled out! I've been lucky lately and nothing but mistakes at slower speeds...but I saw some people take some hard spills this weekend and that ain't fun--at all! I guess its part of the thrill of riding--the death defying part and all...I really don't like the kind of pain that stays with you for months on end though...heal up soon, bro!

Hey Jim, I think you knew what you where doing all along. I mean dang dude you got the trophy at FSW. But thanks just the same. The tires are a gearing issue. I run 22" and 14 / 40 sprockets. That is almost stock gearing. This past weekend I went to a 42 on the rear to gear by bike like my bros (Washrdskin) and it worked. But then he switched to the 20" tires and was able to pull on me at the top when he had smoother lane. Then as the sand started to get dryer he did even better. I think if the sand was completly dry he would have pulled me on either lane withe thje 20" tires. I was almost able to pull 4th up the hill as it began to dry. So i know with 20" and dry sand I can pull 4th and get good speed up the hill at Dumont.
Gonna have to check out GW it sounded like you had a blast. Maybe we can head down one day of our 3 dayer comming up in a couple weeks.

Gordons Well is all the way at the other end of the Dunes down off the 8 fwy. Your talking an extra hour to get there. Seems like a long way to go but I'm sure it's worth the drive.

1 hour more than to just go to Glamis. So your looking at around a 2 hour drive to get to Gordons well from our camp. I most likly won't be there till Late Friday night or sat morn and leave Sunday so Glamis is proly out of it for me. Kids in school and work up in the air.

I don't know bout that, Eaglecollector...playing possum on a busy fourlane doesn't sound too safe to me! Besides your help, fear and common sense made me faster! And you are right...one of the best mods I've experienced is gearing. But since you mentioned sand rail ruts I don't think I'll be going any smaller on my tires if ya know what I mean. I hit a few myself and that aint fun...! Brother David, just start riding south...and don't get caught!
