Carb Bowl Fuel Level Gauge
#1
I have excessive fuel coming out of the overflow of my carb and drips down on the swing arm. While looking through the Yamaha shop manual for the procedure to correct the float level it described a step using a Yamaha Fuel Level tool. It is basically a glass tube with a short fuel line attached that you plug up to the overflow port on the bottom of the bowl. You then hold the glass tube beside the bowl and open the drain set screw. The fuel is suppose to run out into the glass tube to the same level as the fuel in the bowl.
Well this is an exact method of setting your fuel level but I did not have this very basic tool so here is how to make one.
Go to you local drug store and buy a small eye/ear medicine dropper. Take off the rubber plunger and attach a small length of fuel line to the tapered pickup end and tada you now have a fuel level gauge.
According to the Yamaha manual the fuel should be 3-4mm below the top edge of the fuel bowl.
