Holes in airbox, are you nuts?

Believe me brother, my raptor is like a miss priss cat, it hates water and she wont even go near the mud. The most I get is dust, but its worth the white knuckes from trying to hold on. I will leave the puddle jumping to my buddies with the 4x4's.

I run no lid with no troubles...although this does require more frequent filter cleanings. I run good, water-resistant filter oil and steer towards all but the worst mud and water. I leave the heavy water and mud bogging up too the 4X4's.....but for a sport atv, my Raptor gets more than it's share....while topless.

I also run no airbox. I do not ride it any water or mud. I have rebuilt too many engines for myself and friends due to taking in water, or simply being hot and hitting a water hole.

I found a cook airbox lid on ehsracing.com
It uses a large outerwear filter in the lid to increase airflow but still provide some protection.
Let me know what you think of these, they look pretty cool to me

I have seen the outwears airbox covers on banshees. They work pretty good. Good water resistance also. I run Outerwears water restistant filter covers (the make a regular and a water restistant) on all of my bikes. I can even go to the carwash without a big fear of getting water in my engine. Just keep the direct spray away from it.

There is another way to increase air flow and still stay water tight. I did this to my bro's griz. I took some 1 1/2in rubber hose and som 90 degree bent plastic pipe fittings and put them in the airbox lid right next to the snorkle sealing them with silicone. After that i put the hose on them with clamps and ran them up along the stock snorkle and hooked them to it with zip ties. Now he has better air flow and power with the same water tightness. Try it out. It does the trick.
