Thanks for the reply, i appreciate your help. Was wondering if you guys think this is worth the money. A guy has a wrecked 01 500 scrambler 4x4 for $1900 obo. It definitely needs a left front strut, a-arm, half shaft, and some other miscelanious pieces, like the buttons on the handle bars, a airbox cover, air filter, stuff like that. I can't tell if the frames bent, but the gusset lookin piece of the frame that goes between the frame rails under the upper strut mount, looks to be tweaked a lilttle. Thanks for any thoughts or insight.

Cosidering that the engine alone costs $2600, I think that $1900 for the whole thing is a decent deal. A strut will cost around $85, the whole hub/strut assembly is $230, a-arm is $70,Half shaft/cv joint is $180. So for everything all together maybe around $1500 or less you can have a scrammy for around $3400. A good condition 2001 Scrambler 500 4x4 around here go for about $4500. I think that if you go over it really good and find everything that you need and price it out and if you have some good mechanical knowledge if may very well be worth it. Just my .02 Hope that helped

The scrambler is not great at one particular thing. It is not a sport quad. It is not a utility quad. It is a sport utility quad. It does a little bit of everything pretty well. On an mx track or straight rode, it cant compare to your dale. But, when ground clearance, plush suspension, auto tranny, reverse, and traction are what is needed, you will be happy you have it. My friend has a DS650. On the flat roads I havent a chance in hell. But, when we hit the tight trails where horsepower doesnt matter , I have to stop and wait for him. He has to get off and push it backwards. Due to its width, he has done a lot of damage to it on those trails. Due to the Scramblers chain drive, it is not as hard core of a mudder as a sportsman is, but with the true 4x4, you can get through just about anything within reasonI love mine. It is the perfect mix of sport and utility. Since yours is a 2001 model, it has some of the upgrades like the stainless steel brake lines, upgraded tie rod ends, and i believe an upgraded steering mount. I think you will like it. Its a totally different animal than the dale but a perfect compliment to it as well. Here is another site that carrys Polaris parts Parker Yamaha
