I realize this is a little off of the topic.

Has anyone ever purchased a mower for their Polaris? I am wanting to get one and I am not sure where to look. The only one that I have come accross is $2000.00 which is much more than I want to spend. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I do not own a mower for my machine but have seen them in Northern Tool and Equipment (catolog and online) for around $800 to $1,200. Also, if you have a Tractor Supply Company store or a Quality Farm and Fleet store in your area, they have some in the same price range.

I too have an interest but have not explored the options.

Polaris sells a unit that is shown on their web page. I would have to guess it is way out of my price range.

Greetings,

As noted above, Northern has about the best selection around. Cycle Country shows a few models on their website, but these are also offered by Northern. Get on their mailing list and, if you can be flexible, wait a little while until they offer free shipping (happens a couple of times a year).

Rhino also offers some very serious looking mowers for ATVs (check out their website). I bought a flail mower from Alamo - expensive and hard to find but just what I wanted.

Let me tell ya what to do. Go to a flea market of some sort, if you have those where you live, and buy an old mower deck that is wide enough, for 50 bucks or so, and then get a 5-? hp motor you want, put the two together, and whalla! Pull-behind atv mower. I did it. I wish I had a scanner so I could post it.

I've been planning to make a 5 reel gang mower.
Whenever I see an old reel mower put out at the curb I throw it in my garage for future use. There's a picture of one in Northerns latest catalog on page 16. I have seen used quicksilvers
for sale in my local classifieds.

I bought the Polaris 44" tow-behind with the 8hp Briggs and Stratton engine. $800 and plenty for cutting my 1.25 acres of grass.

What do you think of the Polaris mower? I checked with my dealer and he said $899.00. Not as good as your price but the cheapest I have found. Also I like the idea of being able to either having it in front of you or in the rear.

My dealer said he wasn't sure that it would have a very good cut. What do you think of yours? Does it cut more like a bush hog or a finishing mower?

I looked on the web last night and found one called an "Acreace". It was a pull behind ,I could not find a price, and the closest retailer is about 5 hours away.

I havn't made it to Tractor Supply yet..
