Is Fender Cutting Needed for CPI Pipes?
#1
I have just bought a pair of CPI inframe pipes today and i was wondering if i needed to do any cutting on my front fenders. I have a stock 2003 banshee and it doesn't look as though they would fit without having to do any cutting. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it.

yeah, you're gonna have to at least trim up the lower portion of the fender by where the little black fender strut/support bolts to it. on my bike, have no fenders, so i didn't have to worry about that. one other thing- where the pipes get really fat, the come REAL close to the frame. you may have to dimple them on the inside(no one will be able to see it). otherwise, the chrome will rub off(just like mine did). if someone had told me that ahead of time, i would have done it wen they were new, thus saving myself the expense of having to get them re-chromed. hope this helps. ifyou have any questions-pm me.

I have heard you have to trim the fenders, but that is the first I had hear of them hitting the frame.
I have mine in my living room, wife loves that, but I have not tried to fit them yet, it has been to cold to be outside for very long.
You could buy some new front plastic at rocky mtn for about $50, it has basically no fenders. If you dont want to cut yours you could do that.
It might be a bit before I get my cpis on, I am looking at port work, and installing a new crank. If I try them out sooner, I will let you know.

Bat, I have a friend who I went to school with. We are 21. At this age, speed parts laying in your bedroom is cool! You talking about your exhaust laying in your house reminded me of him. He bought a set of used single chamber flowmaster mufflers at a swap meet. Not thinking, he took them in the house. He woke the next morning to the overwhelming smell of burnt alcohol in his house. Man his mom through a fit. I took about 2 weeks to get the smell out.

Well, you will love this then. I have the cpi pipes in the living room, but in the bedroom is my new 4mm stroker long rod crank, and noss head. My wife says why dont you take all these parts out to the garage, I say well if I take them in the garage, then I have to go out in the cold to look at them if I want to. She also asks, why I am sitting on my machine out in the garage sometimes. I say daydreaming. lol

Right before I logged on, I was sitting in my poly race seat in my '63 unibody. I sit there for over 30 minutes thinking about watching the christmas tree drop. By the way, the frame is sitting on jack stands since the IFS and ladder bar rear isn't done yet, the front clip is missing since I haven't ordered my glas one yet, the rest of the body is in bondo and primer, the engine is in pieces, and the seat is the only interior piece in it. I know how you feel.
He also had a 427 tall deck block in his living room (that is as far as we could carry it), two sets of BB chevy heads, two intakes, a solid and a solid roller cam, two ignition systems, a distributor, 3 cranks, two sets of rods, and 3 sets of pistons that all resided under his bed or on his dresser. He went to sleep each night looking at the Holley dominator that was on his nightstand. Tell me that isn't the symptoms of a gearhead.

Yeah, I hear ya. I have more projects then I care to think about. I have another garage full of tools and one of my cars (53 chevy), and another garage full of storage junk, and my 31 model A. then there is my home garage that is full or storage and 5 quads. My cars dont get very far lately, because of my addiction to this riding thing.
I am going to leave on banshee alone, get the other one put together soon with this crank, and some port work, with the cpis and probably 35mm pwks.
Then I think I will call it quits with the quads, except for riding of course. Then I can turn my attention to my other toys, well soon, after a bigger house, and the new baby and all the non gearhead things.
Boy, life gets complicated sometimes.........
But I love it
