Does a K&N Power Kit do anything for a 400ex? How much does one cost?

i have the kit on my 400ex with the ids-2 supper
trapp pipe on it runs pretty good the kit is $100
you could save some money and put a jet in it for
about $10.00 a 152 or a 155 jet but you have to put a pipe on it thats the only reson you have to go up in jets!

How much louder than stock is the ids2? I don't know how to put jets in. Do they have good instructions or should I have someone do it?

This past weekend I put a White Brothers E-series pipe and silencer along with the rev box and the K&N power up kit. I did it in stages so I could see or rather feel the gains that I got. First was the pipe. I could tell it had more power and the sound was sweet. Next was the rev box, I am not sure what they do with these things as far as over all timing advance but man talk about waking up your ride. This thing pull harder than ever. After being thoroughly impressed I rode all day saturday and sunday without putting in the jet kit. Anyway I put it in yesterday, followed all directions and installed it with the #170 main jet. I swear it pull so hard that the front end comes up in the first four gears without me even trying to wheely it. I don't know maybe everyone elses will do that anyway, but I am a big guy (6' 250lbs). Anyway just thought that I would let you know that I love it and would buy it again.

CHADSD,
Did you get the complete pipe or are you using the stock head pipe? Those all sound like the first mods that I want to do, At least I know I am on track. Also di you modify your airbox?

Woodsrider400...... I bought the complete pipe. I was looking at the big gun also complete. I went with the E-series because the head pipe was huge compared to the Big Gun. Those were the only ones my dealer had at the time and I didn't feel like waiting any longer. So I bought the WB E-series and I love it. I didn't do anything mods to the air box, I just took the lid off and have left it off. Also after I installed the jet kid and removed the air lid the quad had a much deeper and crisper exhaust note. I would recommend any of these mods and preferably all of them, they really woke up my 400ex.

I paid 714 for everything, WB E-series I got for 425, WB rev box was 135 and the K&N power up kit was 109 plus tax. I bought it from my local honda dealer and he cut me like 20% off. I know it isn't as cheap as the mail order guy but I didn't have to pay shipping or wait for any of it. I went in slapped down the old discover card and went home and was riding in less than an hour. I didn't put the jet kit in until the next day, had people waiting on me.
