A friend of mine is in the market for a new pipe for his Scrambler 500 and is leaning towards the Supertrapp IDS2 Race Core, but before he buys he just wants to get some more opinions. I am sure he will appreciate any info he can get.

I've got the Supertrapp and I like it pretty well. Its definitely the best-looking and sounding pipe you can get for the 500. As far as power goes, I doubt any pipe out there is going to add more than 3-4 horesepower on the 4-stroke.

I just put an HPD pipe on my 99 Scrambler 500 last week. It fits great and looks good as well. I haven't had time to really get it out and run it yet but from the little testing I have done it seems to work as advertised (4 1/2 - 5 hp). Whatever pipe your friend decides, he will want to add a clutch kit designed to work with the pipe in order to really see any improvement.

I like supertrapp and everything, but on polaris you should stick to the companies that specialize in them. They design the pipes and clutch kits together to get the most out of them. Check out this site for specs on clutching and piping.
