scrambler vs priaire 650 vs grizzle 660
#4
Coincidently, I have a Scrambler 500 4x4 and my brother has a Prairie 650. Bone stock, the Prairie would spank the Scrambler. Trust me, we've tried it. But, by just changing the exhaust and clutch to HPD components and adding a K&N air filter, we are pretty much dead even in a drag race. Honestly, I think the Prairie is still a little faster, I just get my traction to the ground a little better because of the HPD suspension I added. As far as handling in the woods, the Scrambler is much better. I switched to a set of stock 400EX handle bars and it sits me in a better riding position. I also have the rear squatted down a bit which translates some of the weight to the back tires and ultimately off the front end. The Scram seems more solid in the woods. The Prairie is a good handler, but it just seems bigger and sloppier than my Scrambler. My bro has a set of the Adjustable Progressive Front springs on order that should clean the handling up a bit. Overall, it depends what you want to machine for. If I were to do it all over again, I would most likely buy a Prairie and do it up with stuff from Penland Brothers Racing. But, the Scram is no slouch, no matter what anyone says! Good Luck!!!
