GBC Dirt Devils on 00' 400 xplorer?
#1
im pricing tires and i found on Rocky Mountain ATV's website i can get the GBC dirt devils for my wheeler for $161.96 for a set of all 4 tires which is a very good price compared to what else ive found. Well anyway i found the sizes i need so i can keep my tire sizes stock but ( 25x8-12 front and 25x12-10 rear) the front sizes on the dirt devils are same as stock but the rear size is 1 inch wider that stock, will this hurt anything or cause much of a difference? I found the TITAN 489 x/t's which i like and i can get them in exact stock sizes but will cost like only 10-15 dollars more, which is a better tire? and will the dirt devils with a 1 inch wider rear tire cause problems, any info will help me out alot. Dirt Devils are an awesome tire. I loved them on my 00 scrambler i had before it got stolen! If you are a serious mudder, i would get the Dirt Devil XTs, I belive they havea 1 5/8" lug on them....WOW. An inch wider will not hurt a thing in the rear. if anything it will give you more floatation and a bigger "footprint" on anyterrain. There won't be much that will slow you down anymore...and if you find some slop that will stop you...then It's gonna take a good sized winch to get you out!! Happy trails.

I agree, the Dirt Devils are a good choice. The only thing that would make a big diff. with tire width would be the front, that would be harder on it as well as steering, As for the back an inch is nothing to worry about. Good Luck.

thanks for the reply's i will prob go with the dirt devils, they look like a good tire i dont think i wanna go with the x/t's just for that fact that i live on a farm and it will get rode occasionally in corn stalks and bean stubble which may be hard on the larger lugs, thanks alot for the help!

Well, I have the same machine as you and I put the 26"x 10"x 12" front and the 26"x 12"x 12" rear all clearence is fine. I didnt find it much harder to steer, great all purpose tire, they hook up nice. The only draw back is the weight 43lb rear 38lb front on itp steel rims it took alot off my top end speed. Not to discourage you they are great for plowing and tight trail riding where speed isnt a factor. Hope this helps with your decision.

hAzArD,
I stayed with stock size also. I put 25" kenda bearclaws on and it still took a couple mph off of the topend, but man do they grip compared to my wore out dunlaps. An update for you, I talked with Rick Ritter today and he will be shipping all my goodies in the morning. Shaved head (92 octane), light trail ported cylinder, swaintech coated piston, RCR pipe, HPD MTQuiet silencer, airbox mod, jets, injection block off, and last but not least a new single throttle cable since I'm ditching the injection. I can't wait to get them on. I probably won't get them untill friday or so and with my work schedule right now I probably won't get everything on this weekend but I'm goin to try real hard. I'll give a post on the outcome when I get it all broke in.

SWEET man killer mods for that xplorer, i dont really wanna do any engine mods, but those sounds killer! Yea those stock Dunlops arent a very good tire, my bro's friend had em on his explorer before we bought ours and when we bought our Xplorer we had the dealer put Goodyear Tracker p's on it, not a bad tire, i wud like to get some Dirt Devils though. A lil update from the last time i talked with you, well for one i had to buy new right front CV join and boot and hub seal and hub oil (BOUT 230$ WORTH OF FUN LOL) and im SO sick and tired of my torn Cv boots so i ordered some Cycle Country CV boot Gaurds after searching around for good prices and value and overall quality on Boot gauds me and a buddy (goes by the name 97 fourtrax300) decided to go with the Cycle Countys. But yea thats where i am thanks for sharing ur input on tires and sharin the SWEET a** mods u got! ever wanna talk 400 Xplorers with me man my ears are open i wanna learn more thats what im hear for!
