250 2x4 questions
#1
Does anyone out there know how reliable the 250 is? I am buying my first quad and I was considering the Ozark also, but then I read all of the reviews and it said that it didn't do as good as a job hauling than the 250. I would also like to know if the 250 can climb hills very good because of the rear mounted motor. One more question, I like a fun ride, not blazing fast but adaquit and was wondering if the 250 is fun. thanks

I have a 250 4x4 and love it.Plenty of power for me.Not overly fast on road type trails but if you are not a speed demon you should be happy. The 4x4 climbs unbelievably.I think the front axle many help some but this quad crawls anywhere, no problem.Independent suspension rides and handles nice.Real tough too.

I own an 02 2x4 250 Cat. For what I do it is perfect. Lots of low end torque, more than a lot of bigger machines. I've towed trailers with over 1500 pounds in them. Up and down hills. Pulled downed trees off the trails. I've never had any problems.
Speed is not it's forte, but there is enough to have fun. You can get 40 mph out of it. The best thing about the Cat is that it is a full sized utility. It doesn't go as fast as a Recon or an Ozark, but they are not near the utility quad that this is. Sit on one of the others and you feel cramped. Sit on the Cat and you'll see what I mean.
I've had mine almost a year, and no problems. I've never had issues with the rear setting motor either. I know what you are saying....it looks like they would be too light in the front, but they are not. I had the same thought before I bought one. It's never been an issue.
The 250 is the best workhourse you can buy for the money....IMHO.....

I own a 2000 250 2x4, and I love it. It will do 80Km/h (45mph), and pull really well in Low range. I plow my lane way with it, and the neighbours too. I use a 48" plow with a manual angle and Winch lift. At the ATV pulls I have won my class twice and got second once to another Acat with newer tires. I have it setup with an aftermarket 2 up seat and Passenger foot pegs. The only problem I have had is with 2 people on it, it gets a little light in the front end when hill climbing.
I have to be the most demanding 250 2x4 owner there is and I have not broke it yet with over 2800 Miles on it.

Check out the latest issue of Dirt Wheels. Arctic Cat 250 blew away comp. If you look at rider position on A. C. you will notice that you set about 12" ahead of rear axle, this puts you in the center of the wheel base. If you look at an Ozark, Recon, Timberwolf, or Bayou you sit right over rear axle. So even though engine is futher back when weighed with an operator it is right at 50/50 weight balance. As compered to comp. look to see if they have any of these features; high/low range, hyd. disc brakes, oil cooler, ind. suspension, brake light, skid plate, full size racks, floor boards, Recon does not even have an oil filter, NO comparision! Plus, Made In USA!
