86atc250r,

VERRRRRRYYYY NICE! I hope you didn't have to kill too many people to get these. I just wish they'd shown the motor though. Still all in all, it looks sharp! Kudos!

I originally posted in the Honda group because I knew there would be quite a few people there interested in this new machine... Then I though, this may be a better place.

Unfortunately the tools to delete a post are no longer available to us. It's not like I posted in every group, didn't figure 2 posts would hurt anyone or unnecessarily burden the server, even kept the text short and to the point & didn't attempt to post the pics to the forum....

Those are the "secret spy photos" from the latest Dirt Wheels mag. No computer mutation there

Nothing fishy, just posted pics sent to me..... Upon inspecting the source photos (which are much larger), it almost appears air cooled. Which sure points to a Grizzly engine and unless they really do something to it will probably be disappointing....

Peak torque on the grizz engine is 28 ft/lbs @ 5500 RPM. Since HP and torque meet at around 5500 RPM on all engines, that puts this engine in the 28~30 HP range, unless the torque curve stays high as the RPM's climb.

Well Yamaha surprised a lot of people with the YZF400 in motocross, and with the DS650 and Cannondale getting so much attention, and this bike essentially replacing the Banshee, I don't see it being any less than 45 HP, which in a light chassis with 10" suspension that handles would be a great machine. It also doesn't look any bigger than a 400EX so it certainly won't be a DS650, probably very close to the Cannondale I'm thinking.

Well actually torque and hp meet at 5252, but let's not be picky. Like you said, though, at 5500 rpm the hp will be 28 - 30 (29.3 if you do the calculations :-) Anyways, I doubt they'll use that engine anyway, at least I hope not. Wouldn't make much sense to me.

So you got the new dirtwheels mag nice scan!

Dirt Wheels also speculates that the new machine is liquid cooled (vent in front for air flow across the radiator)
