I used a sawzaw and cut just behind the weld, because you would have a very hard time cutting through the weld. i used a mig welder to put it back on and i left my muffler and my rear rack on and had no problems, just take the fender extender off so you can get in there better.

I took mine off the bike, and sawed it in a band saw right thru the weld, when I re-welded it you could not tell that it had been apart!

I can't tell much performance difference, as I haven't(yet) done the snorkle or jetted it. Any day now.... It is louder, but can be quiet if you stay off throttle.

As far as the sound i can't tell hardly at all. maybe a little deeper sound. I could tell a big performance difference. my throttle response greatly improved. i beleive that you would have gotten the same from an more expensive aftermarket product. i really was impressed, and glad i did the mod.

How many holes did you drill Matt, or did you follow nyroc's exactly? and i see from your sig. that you have no other mods other than the black spring. sounds encouraging.

I drilled 6 1/2inch holes with a 12" bit. i drilled them really deep until i ran out of room. i did not bore out the end cap because i beleive that the end cap is the spark arrestor, so i did not bore it out. but after that i just welded it back on. i was really surprised of the power i gained. i highly recommend it if you dont want to buy a aftermarket pipe. i figured that i had nothing to lose, and being a college student i could use $200 on something i really need. i was really happy with the mod, and you could not even tell i had done anything.
