Know how to bi-pass Rev limiter on SP 600 ????
#1
Have an '03 SP 600 and would like to bi-pass it since I think it is faulty. If it works fine once it's disconnected, then I know what my problem is. Can anybody help?

Are you talking about the limiter when you are in reverse? or someting else.

Only in forward gears. It acts like the rev limiter is kicking in at about mid RPMs. I have checked the plugs, put in fresh gas, and nothing seems to help. The problem came on suddenly so I know it's not jetting. It has 99 miles on it.

This is something all 600/700 owners should know. It is very likely your problem.
You are eventually going to open your air box to check the filter. This will save you some aggrivation.
There is a small, clear vinyl carb vent tube that is clipped to the CVT snorkel. This tube needs to breath freely. It is curved downward and is very easy to get the end into the carb snorkel when replacing the airbox cover. Just a little something to keep a lookout for.
Symptoms are: Idles well, but when you hit the throttle it bogs and wants to die.

Thanks a ton for that tip. I will go out now and check. Somewhere I remember hearing about this before but could not find this vent hose that you are referring to. What is it venting? The float bowl?

OK, just checked the vent line you are referring and it's just fine - not crimped anywhere. Also have checked the ETC and it appeared good. I assume the proper adjustment leaves a gap in the ETC switch so that the switch is open. I am running out of ideas to check and only the rev limiter comes to mind.
