Best Utility ATV to modify into racing machine with IRS
#1
Hi,
We've been developing a new suspension called Link-X for SUVs. It makes a big beast have any level of body roll (even zero) without use of sway bars or high damping. We've recently been approached by ATV manufacturers about doing a Link-X ATV...fully independent suspension but with near zero body roll and very soft shocks to reduce racer fatigue.
What we want in an ATV is 1) Existing independent suspension front and rear 2) Tubular control arms (easiest to modify) 3) 2WD so we can race our concoction 4) Highest possible power-to-weight ratio 5) Outboard brakes front AND rear - if this exists.
Cost isn't an issue as we will probably put $20k into the development process - we want the best possible foundation for our machine.
We've been doing automobiles, so we really have no knowledge of ATVs....I really appreciate your help!
Cheers,

You are not going to find a sport class bike that has independent rear suspension or outboard brakes in the rear. Sport bike are going to have a swingarm rear suspension with single monoshock. There will be one disc brake located on a solid rear axle.
There are many machines that would be great ginnea pigs for your project. Z400, Banshee, Cannondale, etc.
Hope I have given you somewhat of a direction to look into.
