anyone got a new HEMI dodge yet

i read a review about this truck, (2500) with a hemi. the testers were a little dissapointed with its performance. 1/4 mile times were 19 sec. if im not mistaken. many diesels had better times. im not basshing the engine though, i just think your better off with a larger engine or a diesel for a big truck! average fuel economy during the test was around 8mpg. im sure that this engine would be the ticket for a half ton.

I drove a 1500 with the new hemi engine. It's designed like a friggin' car engine. You don't get significant low end torque until 2500 rpm and then the power comes ON like you wouldn't believe.
I'm accustomed to trucks that can smoke the tires from a stand still, with the hemi you need to get up to 2500rpm before it'll happen.
As someone else mentioned, I suggest getting a diesel if you really need towing power.

thanks i was just interested becauses before there new engine was a 4.7 which would work good in a dakota but underpowered in a full size truck and there 5.2 or whatever didn't have that much more power and used older technology and lower gas milage. i won't need it for primary towing but it would have to do some. only 8mpg is that atleast in US gallons? gas is expensive... but i gues trucks aren't made to have the most economic gas milage

id rather have a wedge but there getting very rare and they arent for the people who look at the fuel gage as for the hemi.. my cousin has the 1500 and i wasnt really that impressed, for the 30grand or whatever it was to buy it, i could think of lots of other vehicles id rather have. And toommey, i think dodge still makes the 318 and the 360 for the rams and what not.

I have had a few in my shop and they dont feel like they have a ny lowend but once the rrrr's get up there that all changes they are having problems with the heads leaking coolant in the oil but I have had two duramax diesils towed out of the lot because they wouldn't start both with less than 1000 miles I personal never liked Dodge but my thought's are changing I dont really care for there dash but at least there built better than a new chevy ( not bashing them just have seen how the ruined a good truck 98 and older when they built the silverado) They cut the cost of building a chevy in 99 almost $1000 but raised there prices almost $3000 Dodge is supposed to be using some Caddliac tech. with a cylinder shoot down ( to increase gas milage) possible for the 04-05 models which was more problems for Caddy then it was worth. Personally if you buy new u may get a gem or a lem no matter what it is so get the warranty even possible go extended my friend swears by it and he works at the dealer with the extened warranty he says the replace stuff that looks to be bad instead of waiting till it goes bad if you have it in the shop for something else but hay lets hope it never need to use the warranty later RY
