Doe Yamaha offrer new motors for raptors complete with trany. lost 2nd gear possable other problems. My mechanic wants 300.00 to diagnose problem. I am sure it needs at least 1 gear set. It sounds like it could cost close to 1000.00 to fix and al the other parts are still over 2 years old. I would like to know what would it cost to just change the whole d@#$% thing. If its just another 500.00 or so I maybe better off just replacing the whole powertrain. what do you guys think.

Ps. what is the cheapest way to fix If I am just wanting to trade it off. I would want it running decent if I was going to sell it or trade it. If I put a motor in I would keep it.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif[/img]

 

The cheapest way to fix hmmm roll it off a cilff comes to mind probably cost $5.00 and will save you the frustration.

But seriously though you will have to go into the cases to fix the tranny replace it with 01 gears it will be cheaper if you plan on trading it off. If you plan to keep it replace the gears with 02 gears and be prepared to pay if you want your dealer to fix it. East coast atv has new raptor motors for about 1900.00. I think thats the way you should go if your going to spend more fixing the tranny.

 

cc1999, Pm me, I will help you fix it if ya want. Screw these dealers here. They are no help. Trust me I've gone through them. If ya want I can tear it down and find the problem. I fixed my tranny for 500. but mine didn't blow. I live right outside Wichita. Let me know.

I'm sure it does not come with carbs and exhaust. But if it's complete bottom and top, I'd say thats not a bad deal. Seeing as how my 3-4 month old $1600 tranny replacement might have had a part in blowing a hole in the bottom of my crankcase halves today, this might be a good option if It were for a 2002 or 2003 model motor.
